It was an unknown land which had never been to.
한 번도 가 본 적 없는 미지의 땅이었습니다.

They may not have known how long they had stayed in the ship.
얼마 동안 배 안에서 시간을 보냈는지 잘 모르겠습니다.

I am about to talk about the story of American missionaries who finally reached their destination, Chosun, Korea.
마침내 그들의 목적지인 조선, 한국에 도착한 미국 선교사들의 이야기를 꺼내려고 합니다.

The missionaries embraced Chosun people with the love of God and loved their neighbor.
선교사들은 조선인들을 하나님의 사랑으로 보듬고, 그들의 이웃을 사랑했습니다.

Also, they gave people in Chosun medicine and education.
또한, 그들은 조선인들에게 의료와 교육을 선물했습니다.

The missionaries did not ask them for a favor as they did the Korean a favor.
선교사들은 조선인들에게 그들이 호의를 베푼 만큼, 그들에게도 베풀어 달라고 하지 않았습니다.

They just told the people the Word of God and His great love.
그들은 오직 하나님의 말씀과 그 분의 위대한 사랑을 전했습니다.

As the descendants of the missionaries get old, they now all live together in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
어느새 노년을 맞이한 그들의 후손들은 노스 캐롤라이나 블랙 마운틴시에 함께 모여 살고 있습니다.

Korea, the country they remember is the most precious place and it may be more than as their second hometown.
그들이 기억하는 나라, 한국은 제2의 고향, 그 이상으로 가장 소중한 장소일 것입니다.

They still remember Chosun so much that they put up their nameplate in Korean, sing a Korean hymn, and eat Korean food every Wednesday.
매주 수요일에 모여, 한국 음식을 만들어 먹고, 한국어로 찬송가를 부르고, 집의 문패까지도 한국에서 사용한 이름을 걸어두는 등, 그들은 이렇게 조선을 잊지 않고 여전히 기억하고 있습니다.

The descendants also contributed what their parents as a missionary had recorded in Chosun to a christian broadcasting station in Seoul, Korea.
또한, 조선에서의 그들의 모든 선교 기록을 서울에 있는 어느 기독교 방송국에 기증하기도 했습니다.

What Jesus told us in Matt 10:8, “...You received without paying; give without pay.”come to my mind.
‘거저 받았으니 거저 주라(마 10:8)’는 예수님의 말씀이 생각납니다.

And see what Philippians 2:3 says, “...but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
그리고, 빌립보서에서도 나보다 남을 더 낫게 여기라고 합니다.

Frankly speaking, we might not keep this Word immediately.
솔직한 마음으로, 이 말씀은 즉시 우리가 지키기 어려울 수 있습니다.

If you feel that it is okay for you to get things for free, but others not, it might be a big problem.
혹시라도, 나는 거저 받아도 되고, 다른 사람은 안 된다고 한다면 꽤 문제가 될 것 같습니다.

As the American missionaries love the Korean as they are, we should love anyone who around you as they are.
미국 선교사들이 조선인들을 있는 그대로 사랑한 것처럼, 우리가 살아가는 삶 속에서 함께 하는 이들을 있는 그대로 사랑해야겠습니다.
