‘천리마민방위’로 종적감춘 김한솔 그가 가졌던 ‘꿈’…

김한솔과 그의 가족 세 명이 안전한 곳으로 이동됐단 소식이 3월7일 ‘Cheollima Civil Defense(천리마 민방위)’가 올린 유튜브에 의해 전해지며 그에 대한 궁금증과 안타까움이 더해지고 있다.

천리마민방위는 3월 7일 “이것은 이 특별한 사안에 대한 첫 번째이자 마지막 발표일 것이며 가족의 현재 행방은 언급되지 않을 것(This will be the first and last statement on this particular matter, and the present whereabouts of this family will not be addressed)”이라며 미공개 된 정부를 포함해 네덜란드, 중국, 미국 총 4정부에 감사를 표했다. 현재까지 천리마민방위 단체에 대해서는 밝혀진 바가 없다.

영상에서 김한솔은 “며칠 전 아버지가 살해당했다.(My father has been killed a few days ago) 저는 현재 어머니와 여동생과 함께 있다. … 에 대해 매우 감사하게 생각한다. (I'm currently with my mother and my sister. We are very grateful to…오디오 끊김)”고 했다.

김한솔은 김정남과 이혜경 사이에 1995년 평양에서 태어났다. 북한에서 신분을 노출할 수 없어 중국, 마카오 등에서 10여 년간 해외 생활을 해온 그는 이후 필란드에서 대학에 입학하며 인터뷰를 가졌었다.

“대학을 졸업한 뒤엔 좀 더 인도주의적인 프로젝트에 참여하고 싶다. 또 세계 평화에 기여하고 싶다. 특히 조국에서 말이다.(And after that, I would like to engage in more humanitarian projects and also work to contribute to building world peace, and especially back home)”

위의 글은 당시 가졌던 인터뷰의 일부이다. 그는 자신의 삶, 정치에 대한 생각과 남을 돕고자 하는 꿈을 전했었다. 몇 년 전 언론사와 인터뷰하던 때와 사뭇 다른, 진지하고 꿈 많은 청년의 모습이었다.

당시 인터뷰에서 김한솔은 “나중에야 할아버지가 북한 지도자라는 것을 알게 됐다(I really didn’t get to know until later on that my grandfather was a leader in North of Korea)”며 김정일에 대해 언급했다.

“외할아버지는 만났지만 친할아버지가 누구일까 궁금했는데, 부모님과의 대화를 통해 퍼즐조각을 맞춰갔다. 그리고 친할아버지가 누구였는지 알게 됐다( I’ve met my grandfather from my mother’s side but who’s my grandfather, my father’s side, you know, and slowly just little-by-little through conversations that my parents had I started to put puzzles, puzzle pieces together and I – and then I realized who he was)”

김한솔은 “나는 할아버지가 어떤 사람인지 알고 싶었기에 항상 그분을 만나고 싶었다(I always wanted to meet him, because I just wanted to know what kind of person he is)”며 “나는 사실 할아버지를 기다렸고…그가 죽을 때까지, 할아버지는 나를 찾을 것이라는 희망을 품었다. 왜냐하면 나는 할아버지가 나의 존재를 아셨는지 정말 알지 못하기 때문이다(I was actually waiting for him… until he passed away, hoping he would come find me, because I really didn’t know if he knew that I existed)”고 했다.

하지만 그는 아쉽게도 김정일 뿐 아니라 삼촌인 김정은도 만나지 못했다.

김한솔은 남한과 북한에 대해서도 언급했다.

김한솔은 “하루가 끝날 때면 모든 사람들에게는 굉장히 유사한 핵심적 인간 가치가 있다는 것을 깨닫는다. 오늘날 대부분의 것들은 정치에 의해서 문제점들이 많이 생기는데, 예를 들어 남한과 북한이다(And we also realized in the end of the day – in the end of the day that we all have very similar core human values and that most of the things today are causing divisions in society through all, let’s say politics, and from – yeah, mostly political issues. And those things cause a lot of problems in many places today, for example, North Korea and South Korea.)”라며 입을 열었다.

그는 “흥미로웠던 것은 남북한이 통일을 위해 평화를 추구한다고 하면서도 동시에 법으로는 서로를 나라 밖에서 조차 만나면 안 된다고 규정한 것이다.(it’s quite interesting because the two countries, they’re trying to work to build peace together for unification but at the same time their laws that say, North and South Koreans shouldn’t interact with each other even outside of Korea)”라며 만났던 한국 친구들(South Korean friends)을 예시로 들었다.

“처음 만났을 때는 어색했지만, 조금씩 조금씩 서로를 이해하기 시작했다(at first it was kind of awkward when I first met them but then little-by-little we started understanding each other)”

한국 친구들과 처음에는 어색했지만 지금은 굉장히 가까운 친구가 된 그는 “우리가 얼마나 비슷한지를 깨달았다. 같은 말을 쓰고 문화도 비슷하다. 남북을 반으로 가르는 것은 단지 정치적인 이유 때문이다(and realize how similar we are, same language, same culture and then it’s just political that – political, like issues that divide the nation in half)”라고 했다.

또 그의 부모, 김정남과 이혜경의 교육관에 대해서도 확인할 수 있었다.

“어머니는 항상 평범한 주민들과 같은 생활을 하라고 했다. 그래야 국민을 더 잘 이해한다고, 아버지도 항상 제 배경을 잊고 배고픈 국민들이 있다는 것을 잊지 말라고 했다. 그리고 항상 깊게 생각하고 현재의 자신에 대해 감사할 줄 알아야 한다고 말씀하셨다. (My mom always try to like encourage me to live a same lifestyle as the ordinary citizens so I can have a better understanding of the people. And my dad as well always told me just forget about the background and everything and live your life and understand everything that the people who – there is a lot of people who are hungry and always just think twice and be thankful for what you have right now)”

‘독재자의 가족’이지만 동시에 ‘일반 사람들’과 지내면서, 그리고 10년 넘은 외국생활은 그의 시야를 더욱 넓게 했다.

그리고 그는 향후 계획과 꿈에 대해 “저는 언제가 조국으로 돌아가 국민들이 더 잘 살 수 있도록 하는 꿈을 항상 꿈꾸고 있다(I’ve always dream that one day I will go back and make things better and make it easier for the people there)”며 “대학을 졸업한 뒤엔 좀 더 인도주의적인 프로젝트에 참여하고 싶다. 또 세계 평화에 기여하고 싶다. 특히 조국에서 말이다. 왜냐하면 나에게 정말 중요한 것인데, 한국이 정말 분열되어 있지만 우리가 단계별로 조금씩 노력한다면, 우리는 통일에 도달할 수 있을 것이기 때문이다.(And after that, I would like to engage in more humanitarian projects and also work to contribute to building world peace, and especially back home. Because that’s a really important part of me that Koreans are really divided and that we can, if we put a little effort, thus step-by-step we can come to a conclusion and unite)”고 했다.

한편 김한솔의 정체가 밝혀지던 2011년 당시 김한솔이 기독교인이라는 주장이 제기되기도 했다.

조선일보는 10월 5일자 기사를 통해 이 같은 의문을 제기했고, “북한 김정일의 장손 김한솔은 또다른 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS)인 ‘마이스페이스’에서 자신의 종교를 여러 종교선택사항 중에서 ‘기타 기독교 교파(Christian-other)’에 표기한 것으로 드러났다”고 밝혔다. ‘기타 기독교 교퍄’는 가톨릭과 구별되는 그리스정교회나 개신교의 소교파, 또는 교파에 구애되지 않는 기독교인을 의미할 때 쓰인다.

또 “김한솔은 페이스북 프로필 사진에서 십자가 목걸이로 추정되는 장신구를 걸고 있기도 했다”며 본지에 소개된 뒤, 김한솔은 지금은 폐쇄된 자신의 유튜브 채널에 “‘종교상 권리를 옹호(Pro-Religious Rights)’한다”고 했다.
